As a Griff owner, I was quite heartened by what the one in the PH auction achieved:

Yes, it's had engine work, but with over 72k miles on it, and no PAS, I think £21,400 + fees at an auction, don't forget, is very respectable. smile For those who though the PH auctions wouldn't get far, I'm sure the seller of this car is pleased, presuming it all goes through of course. rolleyes

The last decent Griff I saw sell at a classic auction (many don't reach their reserve) was this one in April at ACA, which went for only £17,820 inc. buyers fee, with PAS: frown

Seems a sensible price to me, like the in depth descriptions in the adverts too.

Full body off, chassis restored, full paint, new interior, bottom end rebuilt and a load of other bits.

PAS would be desirable, but the deal clincher is all that work. There’s an easy 20k over 3yrs done there.

It’s reasonable money, but look what the previous owner has invested to get it, without those steps I doubt it’d have made that price.

That’s the very reality every owner who’s employed that level of maintenance and upkeep faces.
Through a dealer the vendor might get around the same money for the car and that’s if the dealer can sell it for 27k.

Now is the time to buy highly sorted cars at bargain basement prices.
I can’t see that changing to quickly either.

Assuming this car has no warrantee it’s effectively just a private sale and probably around the same price point.
For many people, selling cars is a pita so an auction possibly the least painful option.

Looks like someone’s got a good car though.
