4.3 J reg FUEL TANK REMOVAL - URGENT ADVICE PLSE
A kind helper and I are removing tank out in the morning - all advice appreciated
The two fixings above the tank (now accessed by lifting boot carpet) - are they attached to a captive mounting in bulkhead? - The interior carpet looks like it hasnt been disturbed and the tank has been out before for this perishing outlet pipe problem (a dealer replaced all pipes around 20 yrs ago)
Tools arriving tomorrow so dont want to round faces on fixings trying tonight
No idea how the filler neck ist detached from the tank as no fixings evident - if bonded, what is best way of removing
Best way to drain 3 gallons? - pump not working - will most drain thru outlet pipe, once removed from pump inlet?
I believe there is:

nearside vent to carbon filter (does pipe stop here?
offside fuel return pipe

As with ALL TVR's and esp cars that have never seen servicing at a TVR traders workshop.., did this car get the fuel jump pipe fitted to miss the wishbone? See the jump pipe here. http://www.bertram-hill.com/replacing-the-fuel-lin... A@
As this is an early car you won’t have a carbon canister. IIRC, what you will find behind the tank is a rollover shut off valve, it’s been a few years since I took mine out. Registered May 92.
The bolts that come through the rear bulkhead are not captive, I think I made small cuts in the carpet and carefully peeled it back to access the slotted domeheads, think roofing bolts!!!
When finished I was able to glue the carpet back and brush over it to lose the cuts.
Ps, looking at Bertram Hills drawing, the pipe from the rollover valve on our early cars exits from the bottom of the boot somewhere near the main fuel line and the open end is cable tied to the near side lower wishbone.

hi guys, appreciate quick response - like the carpet cut idea, though didnt notice bumps
Car had these pipes replaced by a TVR main dealer at Melton Mowbray, however they failed to replace with mouse proof armoured pipes as instructed and left engine bay ones as 'difficult to get at' .....
So cant imagine they did the mod - all black rubber
I have a small device halfway up n/s which i am assuming is the roll sensor -- if so, where is fuel level sensor?
I also have the large (c.2.5" cannister above the pump) as shown in Bertram and other photos connected by same sort of fuel hose - too big for fuel filter
stuck wd40 on all fixings to soak overnight
no idea how to disconnect filler pipe as it is wedged in and has no fixings - assuming they have glued it!

The small device is probably the gauge sensor, it’s on the left hand side of the tank as you look in the boot. This a picture of the hole it sits in. It will have two wires connected to it.

The rollover valve is behind the tank.
The large canister above the pump IS the fuel filter.
As for the filler neck, yes I think it is glued in, can you not slide the rubber collar down onto the tanks pipe and clear of the filler tube?

If your going to the trouble of removing the tank make sure you replace the fuel hoses with the correct high quality stuff as well.

many thanks guys - the reason for tank removal is due to failure of outlet pipe within boot, presumably where it joins tank outlet. Small puddle of fuel / solvent / resin around outlet 
Presumably tank outlet goes to pump then filter then to hard pipe to engine bay?
Are there not two pipes emerging from boot / tank lower nearside thru mastic gunge?
The return pipe, as yet not identified going higher up tank on offside?
The rollover device - is this purely electrical contacts to a device behind tank? - Is it connected by pipes to anything?
I need to rodent protect the replacement fuel lines for most durable known (due to crazyness of having pipe connectors inside boot) - also future proof against higher ethanol content - suggestions?

As Belle suggests use Carbuilder.com for the ethonol proof fuelhose. They are first class.
Note the fuel hose from the tank to the pump is 12mm ID and to my knowledge is only available in plain rubber not with a SS braid. The main fuel hose runs are all 8mm ID.
The rollover device is not electrical it is purely passive ( usually a ball bearing) that shuts off the supply if the car is upside down!
The second fuel hose exiting through the offside gunge is connected to the roll over valve to vent petrol fumes In later cars this runs all the way to the front into a carbon cannister, in ealier cars I believe it just exits under the offside suspension.
Are you sure that you are comfortable with sorting this, fuel systems are not something you need to take any chances with.

Now looking for following replacement parts:
Bosch 0450905095 metal external filter (the 2" diameter drum mounted inboard and higher than pump
Pump - Lucas73351A / Bosch 0580464055
Tank outlet flange seal/gasket
Tank internal filter attached to above
Replacement hi ethanol & hi pressure fuel pipe in what appears to be:
