Hello,
Is there a GKN diff in good condition for sale around here...?! (Griffith 400 1992)
Or, can we still repair it , I have to redo it completely, the teeth are damaged.

I think I'm going to have to look for a BTR... does anyone have one for sale...?

Hi Christian

I went down this route recently and this is what I came up with.

There are no spare parts anymore for the GKN diff. The only person who may be able to help is John Reid, Readman Racing as per the link above. John Read is a good man and very knowledgeable, he used to run the TVR Tuscan race series for the factory.

I went down the BTR route and managed to find a suitable diff.

You will need a set of conversion mounting plates as they are different to the GKN mounting plates and you can get a set from Central TVR. They are the only company producing these

https://www.centraltvrparts.com/product/diff-mount...

There is a used diff for sale at Douglas Valley Breakers which is currently on ebay item number 295799209903

The owner of Douglas Valley Breakers is Steve Strange who is a really nice person, I bought something off him last week and he told me he was getting out of TVR’s because there are no parts coming through anymore and suggested if I saw something I may want in the future, to buy it now.
Unfortunately, Steve only ships within the UK.

Other than the above, I also found 4 apparently new diffs at Motaclan
https://motaclan.com/product-category/tvr/#bb46/cl...

Two are for the Sagaris and two are for the Tuscan 2 which have the 3:73 ratio as opposed to the 3:45 ratio that the standard BTR diff has for the Griffith and Chimaera and they also have a 5 bolt input flange but I am sure you could modify these if you got desperate.

Hi Christian, I also have a 92 Griff and despite having the diff rebuilt due to a worn bearing the gears are whining when the oil gets hot.
The question is did you find a replacement parts or have you gone down the BTR route. If you did what have you done with the GKN diff?
Brian.

Hi Brian
Sorry for the late reply.
Finally I bought a Diff GKN from Tuscan Challenge ! I don't know if it was a good choice ! (the car is still at the garage doing the fitting)
I'll see if I try to restore my original diff or if I sell it afterwards
Christian

Didn't you change the bearings?

Hi Christian, sorry for the late reply. Yes I did have the bearings replaced by John Read and I guess the diff will go on for many more miles but noisily. Like many GKN owners it needs new gears which are the proverbial hens teeth!!
