The Bible states that the Coolant capacity is 12 litres, I find this puzzling as having just changed a leaking radiator and emptying and refilling the system several times to give it a good clean 8 litres is the maximum amount I can get in.

I2 litres must be an estimate as different makes of radiators will most likely have different capacities and some cars run with the overflow bottle fairly full whearas mine only has a trace in the bottom and if filled further just spews it out when up to temperature. What have others found?

A similar thing I encountered last year.

Quite a bit more coolant than you expect remains in the block and possibly the heater matrix and pipes. I managed to get about 7.5 litres back in my Griff. I kept expecting to subsequently have issues with an airlock or two but no, that was all it needed. smile

Ok thanks, by lifting the front about an extra 1 litre drained out and lifting the rear another 250mls but this made little difference as still only 8 litres max could be added.

IIRC on an empty system 11 - 12 litres
