Griffy 500 Alternator swap
Discussion
Before I wade into switching my alternator tomorrow, is it adjusted by threaded bolt type adjustor or has the belt got an idler tensioner somewhere? I know it's not rocket science and whatever it is I'll get it done.
Bought a 120amp alternator and it's going to replace a tired one that feeds back to the dash voltmeter ONLY just 12v.
Is that a typical dash reading? 11-12v at idle?
My volt meter died so can't measure it and it's going to get a new 120amp one tomorrow regardless.
A couple of other jobs to do on it tomorrow too.

I'll disconnect the battery as I've got a new wiper relay as mines shot. Only works on one speed.
2 jobs while I'm in the footwell.
Just bought 2 125a midi fuses. I'll swap the 100a one when the 125a one turns up.
I assume the 100a fuse will be ok with the 120a alternator for a little while as long as I don't put every electrical system on at the same time?

Easiest alternator change!!
Took all of about 30 minutes max.
New 120a unit fitted. Volt meter on the dash is now constant and at around 12.5-13v.
With the old 100a alternator it's was 11-11.5v on the dash.
Real easy swap over and seems a worthwhile mission.
I fitted new iridium/platinum spark plugs. Did away with the plug extenders and made sure all the plug leads were secured being clear of the exhaust manifolds.
To be honest, driving it after the above bits were done it does feel better to drive.
Bonus easy fix.....swapped out the wiper relay for a new one. Now all wiper settings work as they should.
