Hi,
Looking for some advice and opinions regarding tvr griffith meta alarm, after mine is starting to give problems.
Abacus seems to be well recomended on here and do a plug in replacement? (suggestions as to where old alarm would be? Abacus said would be behind glove box, nope!)
Other recommended alarms?
Any Newcastle/Durham area alarm installers?
Having alam/immobiliser system removed altogether and just have remote locking installed and auto electrician recommendation?

It tends to be behind the glovebox (pouch) area on a Chimaera, it was on the 2 I had. On my 1999 Griffith, it was behind the dashboard. After getting the stereo out, it is just one nut in behind the left hand side and 2 screws accessed by dropping the steering column, then dash out. A lot easier that a Chimaera!
If you have a very early Griff (your profile does not say), then it may be different(Foxgard?) but if it is a Meta, read on!
I bought the plug in system from Abacus because mine cut out on me whilst driving along, twice, as well as having total 'fail to crank' even when cold. It really as as simple as unplugging the old alarm and immobiliser and fitting another one. I bought a Meta HPA Evo system; they don't do them any more, but do a replacement Autowatch system for the same as I paid:

You need to establish if you have the Meta 99T (from '94 to late '99) or the 99T2 (later models) so would need to find it first. You would then retain the remote locking / alarm interface too. There are cheaper ways no doubt and many have bypassed the immobiliser completely, leaving the alarm unit to operate on its own. Because mine was a Meta 99T, just replacing the immobiliser wasn't possible.
The chances of a TVR being stolen these days is extremely remote, most people don't even know how to get in or out but I would still want an immobiliser of some kind.

My Griffith is a 1996 and is the meta system, confirmed with Abacus
I have also checked my insurance policy and no alarm required with present insurer ( although it was when I got car back in 2005 when not on a classic policy)
I shall have a look behind radio. Thank you for the advice.
