Ive got the dash of my 96 Griff out at the moment, to sort out the floating light switches. Nearly all the wires on the back of the dash are connected to the main loom via a pair of plug/sockets.

However, I also have 3 wires that head off from the passenger end of the dash loom behind the glove box. These are red, black and red/purple. I could try and trace them in the passenger footwell, but my back is playing up at the mo, so I thought I'd ask if anyone else has these and knows what these are for?

Thanks
Nigel

I’ll have a look at mine tomorrow. I’ve got the whole interior out so easier to trace cables

I think you’ll find these wires are for the passenger footwell light.

Thanks
I don't have footwell lights, so I suspect they aren't connected to anything

There’s only one light, on the passenger side. It is the same as the roof light, if you run your hand along the strip just beyond the bottom of the glove box you should find a rectangular slot that it would fit in. Hope this helps.

With the phone flat on the floor of my 92 Griff, this is what you should see.

Thanks @Griffo400 - That's a surprise.

This has never worked, nor has the main interior light, but now I know I've got one, I'll try and get it going. Mine is closer to the door than yours

This may help with the wiring, I fitted a pre wired led bulb hence the smaller wires.

I would suggest you remove the glovebox to gain better access to the area. It also means you won’t have to lay on you back to do it.
I also fitted a 3 pin connector in these wires at the dashboard end in case…sorry, WHEN I have to take it out again ??

The lights not working could be to do with the timing relay, it’s usually a tall yellow ford unit in the fuse box but it has been proved be a drain on the battery so quite often it is removed.

Have fun.

The actual light unit thats fitted, mine has been missing since I’ve owned my car. What car does it originally come from so I can refit it please.
Cheers

I believe the fitting is the same as in the roll over hoop.
Anyway I used one of these for the interior lamp and a LED

And an LED

Some notes when I got the interior lamp to work using the above parts previously posted on PH.
I’ve been messing with my interior light again, Previously I got it to manually switch on at the lamp by replacing the missing yellow relay. That was good enough but really dim. Then I bought a LED bulb but I didn’t know at the time that the centre of the bulb is connected negative so it wouldn’t work and I know this type of LED is available now or I could have modified it myself.
Anyway amongst my bits I found a similar lamp holder but for use with a festoon bulb. Now with a LED festoon bulb which can be swapped ends in the replacement fitting I now have a nice bright interior lamp. It still only works when manually switched but I can live with that.

Relay.....

Not got round to doing the passenger lamp yet.

cool

Rob,
Not sure what this is about, but if you were trying to send me a PM, then according to my settings the function is enabled.
