Yes I know this is a perennial topic on here sorry, and yes, I've used the search facility and not come up with much.

So,how can I reposition the drivers door mirror? It's not loose or wobbly but it has dropped by about 15 degrees and is really irritating me. Looking at the image below from 3 years ago you can see the top edge of the mirror is more or less horizontal i.e. the green line. But now it's dropped to where the orange line is. Using the motor to adjust the mirror glass I can see behind okay but it doesn't look right now. Is it the little grub screw or do I have to go in through the inside speaker hole?

Any help appreciated. smile

One of the many issues I've had on my Griff. Some say you can access the grub screw but I found it was too low in the recess on the door. So I removed door speaker, disconnect mirror plug, unscrew the complete mirror and remove. If it's really tight probably spray some penetrating oil in the recess and leave overnight. With the complete mirror removed you can slide the black plastic collar up to reveal the grub screw. Then it's just trial and error and adjust the mirror housing on the turret with the grub screw and keep refitting the door mirror until you get the right angle. Then fully tighten the grub screw and fit mirror. It took me about 5 goes to get the right angle.

Or better still, fit one of the excellent extender kits to resolve the issue;

If it's dropped, there's a chance the 'mushroom' may be broken, has somebody clouted it? It has 3 positions you can put it in twisting it against the sprung metal strip. You can see the metal strip on the left hand side here (from a bodge job I did on a Chimaera 8 yrs ago but the mirrors are the same)

It's this action against a rusted up part that often causes the weakest part, the cast metal 'mushroom' to fail.

You cannot access the grub screw with the mirror fitted unless you drill a hole through the door glassfibre into the recess. frown

Thanks chaps, it still clips into the three positions and is quite firm so I don't think the mushroom is broken but armed with all this information I'll hae a look. smile
