Easiest way to remove the doors
Discussion
I need to remove the drivers door as there is play and in it. I have checked the top bolt internally and it is tight. My question is what is the easiest way to remove the door to replace the plastic bushes. I am planning to remove the door pins/ hinge bolts as this will not disturb the hinge fixings/shims. Has anyone got experience of doing it this way?
I will remove the door cards first as I also need to adjust the window runner as the drivers side is a bit adrift from the door and leaks.

Yes that is the normal way of removal. The door is quite heavy so make sure you have something supporting it and have disconnected the wiring.
If you plan to fit new bolts then you will need M10 x 70 bolts which you will then need to shorten. The idea being that the plain section of the bolt is fully in the hinge bushes and when you tighten the bolt the threaded section finally locks into the thread in the body.
Doing the same job myself at the moment.

I had no reason to suspect my hinges were worn (it was many, many years ago) but the doors were off for a respray so thought I would fit new bolts and bushes before they went back on.
I bought new bolts which I've found are smaller in diameter than the old bolts (even after a good clean-up with emery tape).
I bought new bushes (Delivered a few minutes ago) which have a larger diameter hole than the worst bush in my doors (drivers side, top).
So doors will go back on as they are. I had expected the bush/bolt fit to be much tighter so perhaps the bush & bolt quality is lacking.
Old bolt 9.92mm, New bolt 9.82mm, New Bush 10.06mm.
Does anyone have measurements to compare?
