It was once featured on here, a long time ago: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Surely it's too risky to even consider. It's an online auction, and presumably you will have no opportunity to inspect the car or any of it's service etc. history. The advert says next to nothing. There are only a few photos, and when you click on them (at least on my screen) they are tiny. Is there something to hide?

The car has only done 739 miles in the last 4 years, and less than 4,000 in the last 10 years and it has sat around this year since January, because that is when the road tax expired. The owner didn't even bother to SORN it.

The last V5 was issued 8 years ago, so it it likely to have been in the same ownership since then, and the car has done less than 2,500 miles since that owner bought it.

Perhaps he just polished it, and replaced everything that needed replacing, and put a new chassis on it, but for 300 miles a year, you would have to worry that they didn't bother as it hardly ever was used, and wasn't worth it.

The price isn't a bargain, and there is no warranty at all.

All very fair points. There is a viewing day so perhaps I'll go and look at it. I was of course hoping it was someone here who would go into great detail about how much work had been done on it over the last 10 years.

Thanks

I think the aluminium dash was an option by 1999 but it could be a replacement. The door panels have been changed from carpet (leather / vinyl?), the PAS reservoir has been replaced with an aluminium one, and the switchgear is now also aluminium. The front and side wing indicator lenses have been replaced with clear items.

https://www.historics.co.uk/buying/auctions/2022-0...

Advisory at the MoT (passed on 9th Sept) for cracked (aged) front tyres. Rears likely to be old too, covering less than 4000 miles in 9 years!

Guide seems fair to me (it has been MoT'd every year) but don't forget the 12% buyers 'fee.' (10% + VAT) frown

ETA: It's untaxed since January not because anybody 'forgot' to SORN it, but because it's obviously in the hands of a trader.

Aluminium dash was an option much earlier than that, I had a '95 that'd been spec'd with it from new, and another '99. However, that's an aftermarket stainless steel "chequerboard" dash, the factory option was aluminium "basket weave".

"chequerboard" looks good IMHO, and they never crack! Think you could spec leather door panels too.

Even though it's likely to suffer a few issues when it gets more use, that car could be a bargain, late Griffs are pretty rare.
