I’m currently in southern France with the griff, E85 is readily available. From 10 mins on Google it has a high octane rating and is really cheap.
Has anyone used in a tvr V8? Should I try it? Is it safe?

No it isn't suitable at all. Fine for a Vauxhall/Opel that uses "Flexfuel". It's between 60 and 85% bioethanol, hence the name. It was unheard of in Buick/Mercury Marine/Rover/TVR's time with that engine.

You want petrol, not ethanol in your tank.

Quick googling found a Car and Driver webpage saying :

"E85 gas is suitable for use in any vehicle designated as a flex-fuel vehicle by the manufacturer."

"According to Cars.com, flex-fuel vehicles are capable of running on flex fuel thanks to specially adapted components and revised engine software. They can run on anything from 100-percent gasoline to blends containing 85 percent ethanol. All 2001-model standard vehicles and newer can run on E15 but can't handle the corrosiveness of higher ethanol percentages. "

Thank for info
I found the same website. Unfortunately most places in France that sell E85 don’t sell 98 octane petrol. Given the limited range of the griff especially when enjoying the back rorads in France find decent fuel can be an issue
