Just wondering if anyone knows the Rev limit on a taraka spec Griff 500? I know the Rev counter is calibrated to 8k which is a dream for a rover v8, so don’t need to discuss that.
So what’s the actual Rev limit of that spec engine?
Probably sounds daft but just wanted a tachometer that shows the red line.
Thanks in advance for any info, always appreciated smile

He he he I’m loving this childish need thumbup
Hi mate it’s great to see.
About 5800 if your brains are intact. 6200 But I found from a number of drag runs it’s allover after about 5800 to 6000 through engine vibration and bhp tailing off but that’s on a 450 on 38 mm trumpets. The 5.0 litre cars I drove all vibrated at higher revs more than my Taraka 4.6 from Dom admittedly running the fabulous MBE ecu mapped by Jay. In fact as my car was mapped for Torque Jay said he could have pushed the map for more bhp and a few drag runs if I wanted, top Fella.

As a road car 5800 as the oil won’t always be brand new wink

5800rpm smile
There isn’t a Rev limiter on the ecu though is there? So nothing electronic to stop the engine revving to destruction?
A taraka on the original ecu system that is

I believe there is a hard limit on them all, 5500 for the 500 and 6250 for the 400 engines are figures I’ve seen give or take.

Thanks for the info smile. I admit I should have looked through the receipts folder. There are a few rolling road print outs that stop at 5800rpm but the curves roll off considerably at 5300-5500rpm.
So if I have a tachometer re-made a safe bet is a redline marked at 5500-6000rpm. No point it reading past that then.

I heard this regarding Cerberas too, I believe there was no hard limiter but I do think the ECU leans off the fuelling. Happy to be corrected though.
