Adrian,
On another topic: Windscreen wiper motors.
I recently replaced the parking switch on my 1996 Griffith 500, The switch was not damaged as I fitted it on the bench.
The self parking was then found to be intermittent and checking again on the bench found that the new switch was itself intermittent.
Have you any original Lucas parking switches you can sell me please ?
Thanks
Paul

Hi Paul, First, look at this image and check that this is not the fault, causing the pin to be 'gripped' when it is in the motor housing.
If so, take a small blade and remove (do not let the bit fall in the switch) a cheek of the lower moulding that should of been removed as it was made in the arc of the moving pin.
Come back to me if that is not the issue.

Adrian,
Excellent you were spot on, the lower moulding around the plunger was not arced. The original switch with rusty contacts was arced.
I have relieved it but now struggling with replacing the fixing spring clip, it is binding in the switch grooves. I will have another go later but am sure you have identified the problem.
I owe you a drink
Many thanks

Adrian,
I thought that relieving the plunger on the switch had cured the problem and it seemed OK with the engine off but when started the wipers hesitate as if to park but then continue running. Perhaps the extra volts from the alternator are causing it to fail? The switch plunger is located correctly under the gear.

Then, Q. blue/yellow/red as it will going too fast and run past (when it wants to) if it is wired to try to stop on fast speed. Then the silliest thought is, that if it's not a standard Lucas motor as the upgrades can be built to run in reverse and smash the past switch, as in reverse there is no ramp 'up' on the tag that is affixed to the rear of the gear.
