Afternoon all
I’m after a new alarm. The original on my 95 Griff died a couple of years back and the car hasn’t started since.
Rewind 3 years ago and I had a priming fuel pump but no starter motor. I bypassed the starter motor from the alarm and it fired up lovely. Then before I could repair that circuit the fuel pump stopped priming and hence no starting.
So I’m after a new alarm. Any suggestions please and what specific modules I need to wake this sleeping car?
Cheers
Rob

I was thinking of doing removal and refitting myself. With all the rumours of incorrect wiring and short cuts at the tvr factory way back when, knowing your cars foibles is handy. Plus getting it started and running is also the first step towards a restoration I fitted the HPA Evo system from Abacus to my Griff 2 weeks ago. I only had one fob, the siren wire had been cut through (previous issues it seems) and I'd already had to bypass the starter solenoid cct due to the occasional failure to turn over, even when cold! When the car completely cut out on me, and I ended up driving along with the hazards flashing due to the alarm and immobiliser getting out of synch, I knew it was time for a new system. I was slightly annoyed that HF had no prices on the website or ability to just click and order that I could see, and Abacus had previously helped me sort out a faulty immobiliser on a Chimaera.
It's basically unplug the old system and plug in the new one (it comes with instructions) once you have the dash off of course. Its over 300 but you can do it yourself. I didn't bother with the remote boot open function because it was an extra 60.... Tight git that I am. To be fair, I barely ever use the boot and it isn't particularly a chore at petrol stations.

Thanks for the advice guys, I appreciate a plug and plug possibility but gut feeling says original alarm needs removing in its entirety. I assume a modified Range Rover wiring loom with no factory immobiliser within the original Range Rover wiring.
It’s getting hold of a replacement system to use with the existing door locking system. Is that Range Rover also?
I feel the beginning of a restoration thread lol

If your fairly handy with electrics most aftermarket systems will be suitable as the central locking just grounds 2 wires out to lock/unlock.
Just confirm before purchasing.
I assume a microwave sensor also. While it’s all apart, any other useful gizmos needed that wasn’t part of the factory system?Just confirm before purchasing.

I'd second the recommendation to let David at H F Solutions do it.
He fitted a new one and immobiliser to my Griff several years ago, he came to my home to do it, removed the old stuff added boot release, cleaned out the mouse droppings from behind the dash and fixed a few warning lights that were not working while he was in there. I found his fee very reasonable and I never had problems, no false alarms good work all round.
Bloody nice bloke too

Hi. Defo get the remote boot release if you go with HF. It is a revelation in convenience. It’s like discovering you don’t need to take off your trousers to take a pee. Or substitute your own metaphor!
I’m chuckling away reading that If I remember rightly I had this magnetic switch on the rear somewhere to pop the boot.
Much better if part of the remote though.
