replacement for key fob
Discussion
Hello everybody
I own a 1997 Griffith 500 with the original electrics as far as alarm and immobilizer are concerned. So it is the META system I suppose.
My two key fobs start making problerms, intermittedly. Mostly they're fine, sometimes I have to push the button two or three times until the fuel pumps start running.
So, I would like to replace them.
Basically I would need only new cases as long as the original electronics (which are fine, including the switch) fit into it.
Any readily available solution?

Is it the plastic case of the key, the interior electronics or just the battery in the key?

If you have the alarm code (in the owners handbook), it can be done by post. Otherwise you need to take your alarm out.
He does a remote boot opener option, this is really a no brainer, works beautifully, easy to fit, makes the Griff almost usable! Combined with the Surrey roof that is!

One of the key fobs for my Meta immobiliser is also failing. The round button that actuates the fob has sheared off. It’s a crappy plastic hinge that relies on simply bending the plastic button at the hinge point. Anyway the point being the internal electronics all work fine so all I need is the plastic case so I can transfer the electronics over to it. Problem is I can’t find a replacement anywhere as it’s all obsolete. Someone was selling the plastic outer case only for about £60 on eBay- I wouldn’t pay that on principal!! Any ideas would be welcome….
Prior to me buying new fobs... (to future proof my Tamora fobs which have not broken as yet!) I purchased a Smart car button press which I understand with a modification to the back of the button works well in the Meta fob...I don't have a link as I am mobile ATM (yes I know it's yellow but it was a couple of quid).
