Hi, clearly too much time in my hands…. Bought these:

https://mrretroleads.co.uk/product/blue-8-5mm-perf...

Not cheap (£60 odd), but only option in my colour. Good communication from the vendor. Fitting was a longer job than expected. I hadn’t realised the plug extenders were no longer generally used, plus one of mine was broken. Then needed to adjust the length of all the leads, all about an inch or two long for best run. Also needed to remove one end to allow fitment of the now required heat seal.

Surprisingly easy to remove the connectors and refit, with a cheap crimp tool.

See result. Cables always a pain to get tidy!

If anyone needs a plug extender or two, drop me a line.

Nic

I’m a fan of Mr Retro Leads, they’re lasting a lot longer than others I’ve tried.

Yes, purple. Or perhaps lilac? I can’t get the hang of these upside down photos either!

They don’t fit over the ends of the leads, I removed the rubber cover from the straight through connectors to the Dizzy, but, for the 4 right angle I removed the connector and refitted. Which is a little more fiddly but not difficult.

I found cylinders 1 and 2 needed a straight spark plug connector, and the rest 135 degrees.

In your second picture your leads look suspended by the divider nicely but when those leads get hot I’d expect them and that divider to sag and at least two of those socks look like they might then lean on the manifolds. That will burn the socks white.

I like using socks as they are simple and effective but it’s important to tie wrap them leads up tight. I use the hose above. I also found using cheap light plastic dividers work well and use them in 2’s 3 and 4s as required along with tiny cable ties.

Nice job. How did you fix the 4 way to the top of the rocker cover?

Your heat shields look to have a bigger hole, which might make them easier to fit.

A small tapped hole and threaded screw. Many LR rocker boxes come with the holes and screws already there or at least I presume mine are as per LR.

I find the plug caps vibrate and the odd one can turn which is why I pull the leads up tight.

If you keep the socks off the manifolds they keep there colour. Mine are about 25,000 miles old now. Have a bit of scorching where the odd one has usually turned and touched manifold.

Mine were made by Powers as part of an ecu upgrade. They are a tight fit over the caps, indeed I think they pull the socks onto leads then connect caps then pull socks back over caps. I’ve done this with one lead and had to use spittle to lubricate the cap enough to get sock back onto it.
A bit fiddly but once done they are tight. It’s only the plug cap spinning on the plug that causes them to possibly rest on manifolds.
This spinning issue is why I think they used the metal extenders in the first place.
I’ve posted a slightly earlier picture, I added very thin cable ties after the picture above to just pinch the cables onto the cable you see. They have never spun since smile
