I’ve noticed a water leak from the pipe work above the rats nest in the passenger footwell.
There seems to be a lot of jubilee clips up there so I want to replace the hose and probably valve.

I’m hoping someone out there will know what bore size pipe I will need so I can have some ready for the day I have to become a contortionist.

Alternatively how can I short circuit the heater from under the bonnet while I sort this out.
I’ve been looking for a flow diagram on here to no avail.

Any help and suggestions gratefully received, Ta.

There are a lot of joins/clips aren't there!

Hose is all 16mm or 5/8"

As for by-passing it all for now, presumably just find the two hoses from the engine that go through the bulkhead and join them together

Thanks for that, I’ll get a Mtr in. Should be enough I think plus a box of new S/S clips.

Here’s the offending area….

When you get to working on the stty mess thats above the battery pull out the passenger seat so you can lay on the floor.
Its only 4 nuts and it lifts out.
You can also check the penny washers are still under the runners too. They are load spacers to stop the nuts on the rails punching through the floor.
Been there, done that.

Oh, be careful pulling things about down there, there are some plastic connector bits which you can crack.
Been there, done that too!

Experimenting, I byepassed my heater matrix like this.

Must say it didn't noticeably help cool down the cockpit.

Good quality bodge that biggrin

So the heat isn't coming from your heater. It will be radiating through the footwell walls.
What does the heatshield on the inner wings in the engine bay look like?

I'm planning to change it to near original (just to restore the coolant quantity) but with an on/off tap on the return and the OE heater valve which came minus its electronics, for which I bought a push/pull cable to operate it, but never got round to fitting it.

Similar to this (not my car) but with a simple plastic on/off fitting (can't find it to add photo) in the return hose.

The heatshielding is intact but is probably 30 years old.

Thanks for that Barretti. Would these be the white right angle connectors that pass through the tunnel wall? If so where did you get replacements or did you fashion new ones?
