Is it just my bad hood manipulating technique or are these two mutually incompatible? Driller Ice Blue Griff500

Make sure the velcro is undone (!) Then 'persuade' the hood down by gently pulling on the foldy plastic window bit. also helps if your 6'3

Our Chim's top-down rear view came as a bit of a surprise the first time....have you tried adjusting the rear view mirror up a bit. Usually this gives you a decent view over the top of the hoop?

I'm 5'10 and have perfect rear view. Just make sure the plastic window folds behind the seat belt guide. It took me a few attempts to find the right technique to get it really low. I hear it's very difficult on newish soft tops when they are still stiff.

Its noticeably easier to get the hoop down nice and low on hot days too. Oh and watch out in winter...pushing down hard on the hoop can crack the plastic speaking from experience.

Swapping to a Griff after a Wedge, it surprised me just how much less you can see out the back when the hood is down. Experience has shown that you can get it lower by careful folding of the rear window, but it is still there when you look in the mirror. In some ways it is more of a problem when looking over the shoulder to double-check the old blind-spot. Will be interesting to see how my 5'4" wife manages when she drives the car (only had it 6 months and I havn't tried very hard to encourage her to drive it!!)

try rolling up a towel or similar to form a long sausage shape and place this along the vinyl, then fold the hood down (stops creasing window!) - also remember to undo the velcro (both sides) and bring the inner side through the gap to ensure it doesn't stick when you're folding it down. Gives you another inch! - of visibility that is.

Try angling the mirror down rather than up. Sounds strange I know but you can then use the top half of the mirror to see out better.

I must say that I never have a problem, but then mostly I use my door mirrors.

as suggested I found that moving the plastic out of the way of the seatbelt anchors helps. Driller Ice Blue Griff500
