Gents,
Have a '93 Griff 500 here in the US on original Estorils and my Toyos will probably be due for replacement before next driving season and so since we don't get the same selection of tires here as you lot in England do, I wanted to verify that if I go with a 225/50-15 in front and 245/45-16 in the rear that this would be acceptable and wouldn't alter handling too much. I am able to get the Yokohama Advan A052 which seem to be suitable for street driving. The only other choices would be either a Toyo Proxes R888R or Proxes RA1, both of which say track/autocross use only, and as I don't track the car, the Yokohama makes the most sense for me. Thanks and let me know!
Correct, no PAS on my car. Thanks to all for the info.....I'll get a set of the Yoko A052s ordered up in the spring so they'll be fresh as possible before the start of the season. Then it'll be what to do about a new (read: louder) exhaust. Thinking I'll order up one of the ACT cherry bomb systems and I would certainly enjoy a set of Clive Ford's "snake pit" headers, although I reckon fitting those to a car with 67K miles probably isn't going to make much sense in that my engine has never been apart (I've got FSH on the car) and so perhaps given how spendy those are, they'd make more sense after an engine freshening and a re-injection of some of the lost ponies

I presume (perhaps wrongly?) that a '93 Griff would have no PAS. In which case, 205/55 x15 on the front may make steering less difficult at low speed. If you have power steering, 225/50 x 15 is fine.
Yep, non-PAS cars are 205, PAS cars are 225 at the front. In the world of TVR, hairy chests and barbed wire T-shirts, PAS is a sign of weakness

Go for the Yokohama A052s, they’re a fantastic tyre. They work well in the wet plus in the dry they’re amazing. On track I have gone faster at all the circuits I’ve been to, plus they’re nice & quiet.
Well that’s proof alright. You sure your just not getting even better with age,,,, Like Peter He flies in the Porker I’ll look them up.

I think they have replaced the A048's, which were Yokohama's track tyres. I had a set, not as good as R888, but it would seem that the A052's are a whole step and a half up, in that they handle far better in the dry than the A048s did, and can deal with wet weather too, a bit like those Michelins that Porsche drivers rave about.
