Hi, i got a box full of new boot carpets together with a partly stripped 1992 Griffith, but i can’t figure out where all the pieces (like 10 or so) need to be positioned.

Obviously, the boot was already stripped from the old carpets, so no help to get from that….

Does anyone have a description or other helpful document that tells where what piece is supposed to go?

Thanks, but I am looking for the glued, gray patches fitted to the inside of the rear wheelhouses, fenders, etc in the boot. As mentioned, seems to be 10 or so patches in shapes that are not very intuitive to find the correct spot for…

Post up a picture of the pieces and I will check mine and let you know where each goes if I can. I’m sure others will also join in

Thanks, that's a good idea. I laid out all pieces of the kit on the driveway, took a photo and marked the pieces with a number.

Here's some guidance: pieces numbered 1 and 2, 3 and 4, 5 and 6 as well as 7 and 8 seem to be same shape and size, LH and RH side variants.

Looking at piece numbered 12, i recognize this as the inside of the Chimaera boot lid piece. So the rest of the kit might be Chimaera as well. Not sure how much difference there is between the Chim and Griff boots' shape, other than the Chim seems to be a bit longer.

Appreciate if some of you can help me point out where each of the pieces is supposed to be positioned.

I would say that is not a Griffith set. If you look at the two pictures I have uploaded:
Passenger side wheel arch - the piece sitting on the wheel arch is one piece with a seam down into it with a pvc trim down the middle of it and would be rounded in shape. You should have one for each side that you can’t mistake but I can’t see that in the photo you have uploaded.
Base of the boot looking down - from the short edge touching the fuel tank both ends are at a clear angle of at least 120 degrees, I can’t see any pieces in your set that could mirror this.
I have checked my sag and Tamora and they definitely differ to your set. It looks more like a Cerbera to me, I would post up in the Chimera and Cerbera sections to see if anyone can help.

You can just check if a piece fits the boot lid. If it doesn’t you have the wrong set. Numbers 5 and 6 are the inner wing pieces that butt up to the wheel arch.the piece opposite the rounded profile is L shaped. When fitted the L bit fits over the top and down the side of the rear light cluster if you get what I mean. Offer it up and see if it fits but I doubt that it will. Hope I’m wrong but good luck

I don't have a Griff here at present to check things out.
But, If there is a hump inside the back panel covering the number plate (same at the Chim) then 13 looks like it covers the hump then 11 fits over it with the hump poking through the slot. The 'Ear' on 13 covers the latch having been glued to a thin piece of ali such that the folded lip of ali clips to the latch. You can see this bit hanging down in roseytvr's first photo.

Do 7 & 8 have velcro in the back of them? If so then they are the covers for the rear light clusters. They Velcro to the panels that have been glued to the boot rear and inner wings and are left overhanging the clusters.

I think 15 covers the filler neck. 14 probably covers the fuel tank. 5 & 6 look like the inner wings rearward and 1 & 2 the wheel arches.

Best I can do for now.

Steve

Note to anyone else doing carpet. Never throw away old carpet until you have fitted the new and when you take it out label it and record the order it has to go back in as there are places where several pieces overlap.

Thanks all for your guidance and tips. Some pieces seem to fit, but most of them don’t, so it is definitely the wrong kit for my car. I decided to buy e new one and will try to sell mine.
