T5 gearbox oil
Discussion
Use a quality Dexron 111, (mineral based ),nothing clever or synthetic.
The issue with the T5 generally,is you MUST NOT use anything too slippery as the " paper", friction surfaces that actually synchronise the gears need a level of friction to work ,also some modern fancy synthetics may actually dissolve the glue that bonds the" paper", surfaces onto the metal.
The T5 is a good box and it works ( surprisingly well), but it was built with cost as major issue ,so use the simple cheap " old fashioned", lubricant it was designed for.
Eg. Castrol dexron 111 multi vehicle.Normally less than £8 per litre ,in litre bottles.
If the Millers is NOT synthetic, but straight forward mineral based ATF,it should be fine.
In my opinion of course.

I'd happily use Royal Purple fully synthetic ATF,in an automatic gearbox.Where all the temperature beating properties of this high tech product are beneficial.
However,I wouldn't use it in the T5 gearbox, even when recommended by such August persons.
I'd happily test it in someone else's gearbox though.

I'd have to agree with that, it was designed to run Atf from the start, the LT77 on the other hand wasn't.
I'd stick to mineral dexron 3 Atf changed regularly, you won't get any issues.
These discussions about oil will rage on forever.

Changed regularly being the important bit.
Depending how and where you drive, the box seriously heats up as can be displayed by the gear-lever often being very warm to touch.
Changing the oil well before it’s service mileage has resulted in my gearbox stick staying cool unless i’m hammering the car. It barely gets warm on a 100 mile run but I’ve changed the oil 3 times in 10 years and replaced the Dif which makes a huge difference to gearbox temps.. or it did on mine. One of the most noticeable differences in my car now to 10 years ago is that stick heat.
My box works better than it ever did and I think that’s all down to regular oil changes.
Same with the Diff

Maybe should have been clearer. Royal Purple Synchromax, recommended for manual transmissions that specify a light viscosity oil, such as ATF. I have used in my race car and 331cc TVR M series road car with no issues and super slick shifts. However,I wouldn't use it in the T5 gearbox, even when recommended by such August persons.
