Coolant change on ‘93 Griff
Discussion
Hi lads,
Trying to work out what’s the best way to drain the coolant on my ‘93 Griff so I can replace with fresh as it’s been a few years since the last change. I put the car in the air on my lift this evening and the best I can figure is pulling the hose at the bottom of the swirl pot and maybe the other hose that goes to the “lower” rad neck? Seeing as how the pan under the front nose is solid and so no provision for trying to also drain the rad itself (at least cleanly) I’m just wondering what the collective has done about this?

I just did mine over the weekend. It's a late 94 serp so it might be slightly different, but I siphoned the swirl pot and the surge tank using a piece of garden hose into a collection container using the wet vacuum cleaner to initiate the siphon. I then pulled of the heater bottom heater hose from the lower coolant pipe and ran it into the container and got a bit more out. Then I lightly pressurised the system using the vacuum cleaner on blow - blowing into the swirl pot pushed out most of the coolant out the lower heater hose without making too much of a mess. After that washed out the rest with a garden hose and repeated the blowing process several times.
