As my Griff is emerging from 7 months of storage, a strange electrical phenomenon is occurring.

The hazards & indicators have stopped working, but if I trip the alarm the hazards do work for the prescribed time. The indicators are completely dead, I can hear something click behind the dash when I push the hazard button. The battery is fully charged & as far as I can see all other electrical functions work.

As it’s a PreCat I’ve found the relays behind the dash by taking off the glove box but is it simply a matter of swapping out the relays or is it something else?

Keep cycling the hazard switch on and off for say a minute nuts sometimes the contacts oxidize affecting hazard and stalk indicators control , worth a try use to happen on various cars back in the day before modern lighting controller modules took over , worth a try biggrin

The indicator lights are controlled by two completely separate circuits.

The main indicator/hazard function and from the alarm/immobiliser.

As they are OK when disarming the alarm then the wiring/bulbs must be OK.

As suggested above look at the indicator switch and or Hazard switch

Thanks guys, after a bit more investigation, I’m leaning towards the alarm system. It has been problematic for the last few years or so & is the one thing that I haven’t done anything with in 19 years. It has been pretty heavily spiked when disconnecting & reconnecting the battery….

Will let you know what unfolds..

It can't possibly be an alarm fault

So it turns out that it was just a flasher relay, not under/behind the dash hazard switch area but on the main footwell relay/fuse board. The indicators now work, so all good for the MOT.

The alarm is not disarming though, luckily I can disable the immobilizer with the fob on the steering column.
