Super charge or turbo
Discussion
yes that has been playing on my mind too! probably like others there have been numerous times in my Griffith ownership where more power would have been very useful indeed. I'd like to think where smooth dry road conditions exist all that power could be laid down without drama, but I've no direct experience. You only live once so my devil says it's an itch that has to be scratched. But reliability is absolutely key, hot weather, long distances, southern France and all that.
I have a turbo on my Chimaera, there is no turbo lag. Turbo lag is a thing of 1980s Audi rally cars running monstrous boost. You would be running a whisper of boost compared to them. Mine is a 4.6, but runs 2.5 psi and generates 325bhp and 395 ft lbs. At 7.5 psi it generates 395 bhp and 525 ft lbs. The extra torque is georgeous, you get way more than an equivalent NA 500.
Go for which you prefer, there is not a lot to choose. They both do the same thing, pressurising the air coming into the engine, just by different methods.
Turbos generate heat, but I only had any issues with that on track, lap after lap at max revs and max braking. never had an issue on the road.
One big point however - a turbo will remove your main catalytic convertor, as that's there it goes, so if you want the car still to pass the MOT test you need to supercharge instead.

The supercharger was from sc power .. are they no longer trading ?
the turbos were from eann whalley and he sadly passed away .. there was a tvr owner who was looking to take over the marketting/selling of the turbo conversion but i'm not sure how far talks got before eann's passing.
right now it looks a bit barren on the forced induction front then ? Might be time to look into something.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and comments. It seems that the supercharger may no longer be available. Lloyd Dev has confirmed they can provide a turbocharger conversion which looks very interesting, need MBE or equivalent engine management system first.
Mine uses an Emerald ECU and it runs very nicely. Three choices of map as well, change maps at the click of a knurled knob.Gassing Station | Griffith | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
