Griff 500 'G5LTR'
Discussion
Have been lurking on the boards for a while now and found the info especially useful. I have now seen a Griff that looks good and am hopefully going to test drive it this weekend. Wondered if any PHers out there knew it's history or could point me in the right direction.
I can hardly believe the dream of Griff ownership could be coming true soon, or yes and at risk of opening another chasm what tyres are people using on Griffs now the SO2s are gone.

S03's are the tyre most people seem to be looking at.
Enjoy the test drive and better still just buy the car and enjoy the drive for longer
You will love it, once tried you cannot stop.

I had a new set of SO3's on my last Griff and they were fine. No noticeable difference from SO2's if I'm honest.
The main dealers etc won't stock SO2's anymore but the independents and tyre specialists will still have them for ages - at good prices too. Dont mix and match though - the SO2's are uni-directional unlike the SO3's

Not sure about this. I couldn't get S02's earlier this year from Micheldever.
I also disagree about mix and match. I have SO2PP's on front and S03PP's on back with no issues. (I previously had S02 (non-PP's) on the back.) I think there are quite a few people with this combination.
There was no way I was going to replace my hardly worn front tyres when putting new ones on the back.
I wouldn't mix them on the same axle, but then I wouldn't put a new tyre on the same axle as a part worn one anyway.

...for a front wheel drive hatchback with 130bhp per tonne. Might be a bit different for a powerful, lightweight, rear wheel drive sports car, eh?

With S03s on his Griff
I don't think the choice of car would have helped the SO3's crap performance in the wet lateral-G test. I would have thought their unpredictability in the wet may be brought into sharper focus on a Griff.
