Noise From Brake Pedal
Discussion
Hi folks,
Last weekend I drove a Griffith 500 in my quest to return to TVR ownership, my only real concern was a noise when pressing and releasing the brake, best I could say was a whooshing type of noise, I fear its the brake servo but the seller suggested it's possibly the linkage between the pedal and the braking system, any ideas?
The brakes didn't feel as sharp as I recall them being on my previous 3 chimaeras which gives me further concern although the car has seen little use in recent years.
Thoughts would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Thanks for the responses, I've spoken with the dealer today who agrees there's as issue of sorts and that if I'm buying the car it will be absolutely right. I can't imagine a long standing tvr dealer will sell me a car with a potential safety issue so I'm heading across tomorrow to check the outriggers are as good as described then I think I'm there.....watch this space....

Inactivity could be the death of the servo seals.
having said that a dead or dying servo should not be a significant factor in buying an otherwise good car. Not an overly expensive fix and a barganing starter for ten.

Brake servo is now an expensive part and it's a pedal box out job, which I've just completed and it's the worst job I've ever undertaken on a TVR!having said that a dead or dying servo should not be a significant factor in buying an otherwise good car. If paying a dealer to supply and change the servo I could easily see that being a £600-£700 job
Yes I'd say that sort of money sounds right.
I agreed to buy the car today as the outriggers along with everything else are in great condition.
The dealer has said all will be well with the car and said whatever it takes the noise from the brake servo area will be dealt with.
I'll not get the car for a couple of weeks, really looking forward to being back in a tvr!!!
