Hi all
I'm changing the master cylinder due to a leak and have it removed and on the bench
The issue is when measuring the piston diameter it comes out as 0.6 and the replacements are listed as 0.7 inch
If I fit the 0.7 will it change the clutch operation?
Thanks

A bigger bore master cylinder will move more fluid so the clutch will start to release with less pedal movement. sounds like someone has fitted the wrong part in the past?

Took the cylinder out from the hatch in the bonnet area
Wouldn't be able to remove from the foot well
Suppose you could do the seals from the foot well but didn't try that

You need to be young, trim and nimble to do that.
Lets me out then.

me too, but second nut on m/c seems inaccessible through little hatchlet, where as the footwell looks a breeze...for most born after 1990

What I did was get a 1/4 ratchet with the appropriate size socket on it. Then tie wrapped it to the master cylinder bowl (or get someone to hold it). Then in the footwell undo and remove the nut. The master cylinder can then be withdrawn once the rod on the pedal has been unclipped.

Similar exercise for replacement but get the bottom bolt in place at the same time as the master cylinder
