Any pointers as to where to get a genuine Borg and Beck clutch plate for a Griff 500? the part number stamped on it is 53005. I would like to have like for like as the clutch action was fairly light.....well for a Griff anyway!! I’ve removed the gearbox/clutch for inspection as the engine was out and found the plate in good nick but for a couple of the springs loose. I’ve looked online at one of the main parts suppliers it seems that they must be made of unobtainium!!
I’ve messaged both companies now. I’ve also seen what I believe to be a direct replacement on Ebay .... it’s an AP plate http://stores.ebay.co.uk/TECHNICLUTCH at a very reasonable price. Has anyone fitted these?

Be aware, Borg and Beck aren't what they used to be (gosh I sound old!) ... I believe that the name only was bought by Firstline (not known as a purveyor of the finest products...) and is now used as branding on very cheap filters etc.
Much the same as happened to Lucas, sadly.
This ^ same as Crosland filters best avoided , got to have the AP Racing moniker attached, that AP number CP2346-4 is also used on the 2.0 Cosworth Ford unit as part of a clutch upgrade they use the same spline count diameter etc so small wonder really Much the same as happened to Lucas, sadly.

As has been said on here before If we do not support TVR Parts now Racing Green Parts then keeping our cars on the road in future could be a problem.
Some things may appear expensive but if you opt for an unknown supplier you take a chance and it could prove more costly in the end and a lot of hassle.
To maintain large stocks on the shelf is a costly business so some mark up is inevitable, the post and packing can can appear high but for small items it is adjusted and a refund applied. I have just ordered a bonnet cable and the pp was minimal after the refund.
I have no connection with the company but have always found them excellent.

I’ve decided to go with Racing Green (TVR-Parts) to make sure I’ll be getting the real deal. I don’t want to be doing the job twice.!!
Are you running a standard engine, if so why not contact J E Developments and fit a STD SD1 Clutch kit.I have had them fitted in 4.5 Chim,s with no issues.

I went through all this looking for a clutch for my Chim 500, there aren't many options, you won't find an AP one, the only alternatives seemed to be the Helix and the Billet option from Dom. Both had negative reviews for a very heavy pedal.
Instead I sent mine off to a company who refurbished new, new friction material riveted onto the driven plate, new pressure material and springs inside my original AP pressing.
I haven't got the car back together yet so can't tell you how it is but they've got old reviews from folks I know who have had similar work done. It was pretty reasonably priced too.
CG Motorsport is the company if you want to speak to them.
