Michelin Pilot Sport 4?
Discussion
Has anyone used Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres on a Griffith (/TVR)?
I've used the 4S (granted a different model) on a number of cars and love them. Unfortunately they're not available in 17" (which I need for my fronts). The MPS4 get decent reviews too so was wondering if anyone had tried them.
From reading a few threads am also considering Uniroyal Rainsports, but wet weather use will be much less of a consideration (and have always been impressed with Michelins).
Last question...I have 17" fronts and 18" rears...what sizes do people running this combo run on the rear? The car currently has 215s up front and 265s on the back. I'd like to dial the oversteer back a little so am thinking increasing the rears to 275 and/or the fronts to 225 might be an idea? Just not sure how much clearance there might be at both ends.
Thanks.

I only can recommend the Michelin PS4, very good grip and feedback, i am very happy with them. In the wet there also good, i had no issues there (but i never pushed it so far in the wer). Drove them now for 8000km and on the rear is still some profile left.
Tire size is 215/40 r17 and 235/45 r17

Tyres arrived today. Getting them fitted next week. Won't be able to give any driving impressions until next spring in all likelihood.
Opted for 255 rears (a faded memory of the current 265s fouling the arches prompted me to go a bit narrower) and 205 fronts. We'll see how that works. If it doesn't will have a rethink

Tyres all fitted.
As I was manhandling the car and wheels around it became pretty apparent that the car could do with rims at least an inch narrower front and rear. And I think as others have said elsewhere, more than 245 width tyres on the rear is pushing it.
Will get the car recommissioned and give it a go on the current set up. Like the wheels that are on it - they do come in narrower widths, but aren't cheap (fitted by previous owners).

If you do go for narrower wheels but still in 17 front and 18 rear, I would suggest that quite a good handling sweet spot is 215/45 17 fronts and 235/40 18 rears. Not too heavy on the steering, well planted on the road and no risk of rubbing.
If you go for 17 inch rears, just change the 235/40 18 for 235/45 17.

My thinking on the sizes I went for was that allowing for a bit more understeer wouldn't necessarily be a "bad thing" and that narrower fronts might help with the steering. I didn't want to go much narrower on the rears bearing in mind 9in wide rear rims.
Will see what it goes like and will work from there.
