My catch was broke when i brought The griffith but some one had stuck some velcro strips which where doing a great job up until now.
have tried fixing the broken plastic bit as suggested in the bible but mine had looked like it had been in a fight with Tyson.
By now i am and have been to Homebase and brought two catches i think will do the job.
2 hours later and no FRIGGING joy.

Looks like i might just wedge it shut unless any of u good old folks have found any good replacments.

I think I have tried just about everything and never got anywhere, all I do now is keep an allen key in the glovebox and tighten the allen bolt up so the box doesn't fall down.

'crumbs Dm' thats the quickest reply i have ever had.

Thats what ive done at the mo, racked them up tight and wedge a bit off cardboard up the side.
I just hate things left like that though, for some sad reason i know it will bug me.

If anyone has the answer to this pleeeeeeeze let me know - I am fed up of having my knees rapped everytime Mr Big gets a lead right foot. Plus trying to catch all the credit card receipts as they flutter off in the breeze is no joke.

Dunno, just thinking out loud here, but you can get some pretty strong magnetic latches. How about two or three of them along the edge, would they hold it? Quite easy to attach from the look of it, and literally unbreakable.

Same here - works a treat.

Mine didn't have the catch when I got it. The tightness of the bolts produces enough friction to keep it up in place - might be worth a go in your case BB...

There are also the spring loaded catches, I have switched to these for cupboard doors becasue the magnetic catches are not very 'strong'.

My glovebox is held in place by the end of a ladies leather belt that is screwed to the lid where the catch used to be, about an inch and a half of belt sticks out when the glove box is shut. This makes the lid shut tight, to open just pull the end of the belt down. Works a treat.

I believe that a Blackpool company called TVR or something like that do replacement catches and the latest ones are pretty strong. They have dealers scattered round the country...

In the 18mths I've had the Griff I have (well the first wasn't actually me) bust 2 catches, so...

For the last nine months, mine has had a folded piece of cardboard wedged in the gap at the side. I works a treat its out of sight and the glove box stays closed.

I have been planning to put a lock on the glove box, (one of those simple quarter turn jobs used on disk boxes and the like) but it's taking me ages to get round to it.

Magnetic is an intersting idea - you can get a roll of double layer magnetic tape from some DIY places for fixing secondary double glazing. One part is metallic with a self-adhesive backing; the other is also self-adhesive (for the other side) and a bit like the strip round a fridge door. However I've only seen it in white... though if you're careful it might not show when the box is shut.

Nice thought but it's crap stuff, I've tried it and the velcro option (which is also crap) is better.

I tought of all people the MESSIAH would have a better response than that.

Went to DIA and couldnt find anything there resembling anything decent to use.
So brought some Velcro stuff for know and a nice wedge of cardboard

i've just found some slim magnetic catches, new from one of my suppliers. they're less than a fiver and should match up to the holes used for the standard catch. weighting looks ok so i've ordered one to check out on my griff. i'll fit this weekend and stick a line up with how it went. they're available via mail order/credit card.
