I own a Speed 8??!
Discussion
The one-off prototype was produced in 1989. It must have got very close to going into production because I remember being at the factory in 1994 and they were clearing out a storeroom. In it were at least 10 boxes, each with 1000 Speed Eight brochures. I took half a dozen, the rest got chucked in the skip, along with the car. Those brochures fetch £10 each on eBay today! If only...
I've always liked the look of the speed 8 wedge, to me it looks a bit like a Daytona from the front three quarter view, or is that just my poor eye sight .
Interestingly enough when I was confirming what engine I had fitted in mine, as a 'customer spec'd special', Dom at TVR power refered to it as speed 8 spec engine, I wonder if the HC cam/engine was developed for that car but never made it into production .
Anyone out there know the full story, who may have been involve in TVR at the time (cue claire/gaffer, it's not a quality question but more of a historic one that someone may know the answer to ).
