Picked up last week and have done 1000 miles so far, this is a really addictive car and I love it. After a long trip up to the north east and generally getting to know the car I have started to drive my other motor again - Volvo 850 T5, oh dear I used to think this was a quick car, it now feels positively pedestrian. Cannot understand why I have waited so long to run a car that makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up and rattle the windows of the house at the end of the street.
Couple of questions - oil pressure 50-60 cold, 30 hot at idle. ok?
Volts 15
These cars are the biz

Yeah oil sounds good and the volts seem normal to good at that reading.
My advice only would to keep up the weekly checks, oil water etc and use it as much as poss.

Don't worry about 15psi at tickover when the engine's hot - that's normal for the Rover V8. You should worry if it drops much below that at idle, and it should pick up to 30 when you pull away.
The main thing is to ignore the actual markings on the dial, but get a feel for the normal range of operation and panic if it goes outside that range.

Fernies told me that it shouln't go below 10psi at tickover.

Thanks for the feedback guys.
I also asked Rob Ingleby about it and he reckoned it was normal, as long as there is a difference in readings between idle and normal running speed it should be fine. He also mentioned that TVR gauges aren't always accurate, surely this isn't true?
I'll stop panicking!
Sorry to hijack your thread Andy!

Oil sounds right to me as well, at startup it is about 50-60 and drops when ward to about 30-45, the same when moving, at idle it settles to about 10 for me. Having never compared this to another Griff I assumed the 10 was correct, and I have never had a problem in this area of the car.

just had my oil system purged, new oilpump plate and gears fitted. also new pressure switch, reulator AND oil.
reading 50 - 60 cold 1-4k revs
30 - 50 hot 1-4k revs
volts = 13.5v normal, 12v loaded (fans,a/c,blower, lights etc). I need an altenator upgrade to 99amp from 85amp as the original is marginal for a full spec car.
15 volts IS high and would indicate overcharging. I would suspect the meter to be out rather than the charging in my experience so don't worry too much, but get your dealer to check it out next visit.
don't be too scared of these cars.
the engines are strong and the dealers quite good in my experience. use one that has a racing team/or experience of such as these guys will know the kit properly and not just be a servicing house (ford/vw etc)
make sure hoses are good and the electrics are ok
get the steve heath book - its ESSENTIAL!!!!
