How noisy should Gearbox be?

Well I've just completed my first day of Griffith (500) ownership and I'm blown away by these cars. But I have a question, how much noise should I expect from the gearbox & diff? Neither unit whines or clunks and all ratios engage cleanly but there is a definite humming sound. I didn't expect anything about the car to be quiet or too refined (which I personally like) but just wondered if this is normal.

I guess the answer is there will be some noise, but without hearing your car its hard to say whether yours is particularly loud.

Best option is to go along to your next club meeting and blag a ride in a couple of other Griff/Chimps. Or otherwise ask a friendly local PHer.
