Griffith heater controls
Discussion
Hi,
Can someone enlighten me as to what the four knobs in the lower dash do and the other one in the drivers footwell...which seems to be the fan control?
There are some arrows but I can't think like a TVR designer
I'm sure a lot of twiddling and aligning valves is ahead to make it all function properly.
Cheers

Got it.... I'd never had thought to press them in!!!
1) Top left controls the temperature of the heater should be marked with a red & green led turn it for hot & cold. (pressing it also controls on/off the air conditioning if you have it fitted)
2) Bottom left opens and closes the fresh air flap allowing you to have either fresh air or recirculated air. Anti clockwise fully is fresh air which is what you will want.
3) Top right controls the fan speed and is turned on / off by pressing it. (pressing it also controls the heated mirrors)
4) Bottom right directs air feet or screen vents and should be self explanatory (pressing also controls the heated seats if you have them)

Only it's slightly misleading, the same as the owners manual.
On my Griff, if you press the top right switch, it turns the fan on (and also the heated mirrors and presumably, the heated seats if fitted), you have to press it again to turn the fans off. It makes no mention of pressing it to turn on the fans.
The post above was asking about pre-cat. There's an old thread here, and there may be others if you search:

Very true and good point. 95%correct 😂🤣 as you say very much like the manual. On my Griff, if you press the top right switch, it turns the fan on (and also the heated mirrors and presumably, the heated seats if fitted), you have to press it again to turn the fans off. It makes no mention of pressing it to turn on the fans.

On a pre cat, knob on the left…fan speed.
Top horizontal button is temperature control, press left…cold. Press right….hot.
Bottom button is vent direction, press left…windscreen. Press right….footwell.
Led in the middle is alarm situation, red armed, green disarmed, well it is on my May 92 Griff.
Buttons on the right are the windows, but I guess you’ve figured that out already.
Hopes this helps.
Brian.

Hi Hillclimb…
On re-reading this, a faint memory dropped out of the corner of my brain cell. There are lights around the switches which are illuminated by a single bulb in a “magic lantern” via fibre optic cables. Apparently these were used in late 80s range rovers.
The lights should be come on with the ignition not the sidelights, so are permanently on but are really only visible in the dark. Being on permanently means the bulb usually goes black and eventually blows.
The magic lantern is situated behind the lower dash but might be accessible if you take the main dash out.
I’ll go out to the car and take some shots with the garage lights off.
