Is there a super strength, rotproof, exhorbitantly expensive TVR thread that I should use to repair a three inch section of stitching that has come apart around the rear window of my Griff ?
Can't believe it's just ordinary cotton.
Tried a local outdoor supplies store and they wanted to sell me, for about £10, what amounted to a glorified puncture repair kit - naturally I declined their offer.
Advice please ?

Just a thought, as there have been no posts since 14:28 yesterday perhaps the land of Griffith has been transported to another dimension where the sun always shines - if so I don't need to fix the hood

you could try a decent camping shop, Big frame tents have canvas to plastic windows with tough thread, this will work I would have thought. Theres a good one near me called Atwools(near Gloucester) who sell repair items, they have a website also.

Cotton is surprisingly strong.

Also try a friendly shoe mender, they use very strong cotton for stiching shoes.

and alas, not out in the Griff, just in the office eating lunch and pondering the next meeting.

Thanks for that zippy500. Seems like I was on the right track with the outdoor supplies store, just need to find a better one.

The other trick is to wax the cotton before using it and double stitch.

try your local boat chandler, they should have waxed cotton of varying sizes and colours.

or just go to a hood/roof trimmers and ask to buy some thread for re stiching the rear window. i found a local one in yellow pages and went in and asked to buy a couple of meters of it and they just unwound some off a spool and gave it to me.
