Dirty idle control stepper motor is a favorite cause of idling problems, but mine also tends to idle erratically when it is in fault mode - usually from a duff lambda sensor. But it could be the road speed sensor, or any of a dozen or so different causes. I suggest you clean the stepper motor just in case, and get the fault codes checked next time you're near a TVR dealer/specialist. That may give you a clue. Cheers, Peter Humphries (and a green V8S)

Sometimes when starting my 500(cold) the tickover will not drop below 1500 RPM. It drives fine but is rather annoyoing at low car speeds when it wants to go faster. If I switch off engine and restart, it idles at 1000 RPM and still drives fine. Any ideas chaps.
