I can't get to the car or my handbook at the mo to find out how wide or long the griff is.

I am wanting to purchase one of the halfords car covers and they come in the 3 sizes,

Small
• Maximum vehicle size - length: 3.82m, width: 1.63m
• e.g. Ford Fiesta, Nissan Micra, Peugeot 106, Rover 100/Metro, VW Polo

Medium
• Maximum vehicle size - length: 4.10m, width: 1.72m
• e.g. Mazda 323, Nissan Almera, Renault Megane, Vauxhall Astra, VW Golf

Large
• Maximum vehicle size - length: 4.52m, width: 1.76m
• e.g.Audi A4, BMW 3 Series, Ford Escort/Sierra, Nissan Primera, Renault Laguna, Volvo S40

With the griff not been very tall I wondered if anyone here has bought one and can recommend which one or can possibly lay their hands on the griff dimensions.

Much appreciated

I use a medium Tyvec cover that I bought from Halfords for my Rover originally. It goes right down to the floor but at least it covers the entire car!

Also from S.H book, and I quote;

'I measured my Griffith 500 and found that it was 1,870mm wide, but it depends how the mirrors are set. So the official figures are definately a 'worst case', which is reassuring.'

So the figures I have quoted above, 1st reply, are official TVR figures from S.H book.

Steve, hope you don't mind me writing this on the site.

Cleg, let me know how you get on, as I want a cover for my Griff too.

Good luck.

Be aware that using an all-over car cover on a wet & dirty car has the effect of giving your paintwork a nice buffing with wet & dry sandpaper (ie. best avoided).

I find the Leven hood cover, although expensive at £150, is far better as it can only move against the paintwork along the tops of the doors, where I incidentally now have light scratching.

I'd rather have scratches limited to there rather than the entire bodywork though.

If those figures are correct, even the 'large' cover won't fit a Griff for width, which doesn't seem right!

I think the width figure includes the wing mirrors. There should be enough slack in the medium cover to cope.

Snug fit. And careful use has led to no scratching due to the cover. As long as your car is clean and dry you shouldn't have any problems.

Ooops, sorry Cleg, I checked last night and found I actually use a large Tyvec, not a medium. It's pretty vast on the Griff actually, loads of space all round and easy to put on. It goes down to the bottoms of the wheels on all four corners and slides under the nose and over the exhausts (if you want it to, I usually leave mine sticking out 'cos I'm like that!).

Mind you, it cost about £75 if I remember rightly, you may as well buy a TVR cover for that price! I'm only using it as a stopgap until I get a "proper" cover.

I had a car cover for my MX5. I only used it once because every time the wind caught it, it set the alarm off! I did have a particularly sensitive alarm on the car though!
