Hello everyone ! I have a newfound interest in TVR cars, and need some starting help.
- Years ago, local rumor had it that TVR (60's Griffith cars) had 'brazed' frames, not welded. Is this correct ?
- Can the Ford 289 (302) fit into a 2500M series without mods to the basic frame ? This would be replacing the Triumph 6-cyl engine.
- I'm 6' 3" tall. Can a tall driver fit into a 2500M without bumping his head while driving ?
- If needed, does the factory offer replacement frames for these cars ? ( I only know that my uncle's 2500M has sat unused for a long time, and noone knows the condition of the frame.)
And finally, is the resale value of a 2500M reduced by not keeing the car totally stock ? i.e. Would a Ford V8 installed properly with due attention to detail decrease the value of the car ?
Many thanks for bothering with my novice questions !

Hi Paul,
Answers to your questions are:
1. No, they were all welded.
2. Yes, several TVRCCNA members have done it.
3. Yes
4. Factory can't help but any corrosion should be limited to outriggers and can be easliy repaired.
I suggest you visit this site www.tvrna.com and join the TVRCCNA.

Chassis corrosion is usually fairly straightforward to repair but if it is beyond repair new ones can probably be obtained from David Gerald in the UK as they own the copyrights now (don't know how much this would cost though)
I'm just on 6' and never had a problem with space in my 3000M I found it quite comfortable.
Most M series cars benefit from modifications and modified ones probably outnumber stock versions in the UK so I don't expect that changing the car in this way would affect the value (unless you regress to some of the customising cues of the seventies that is....)

I'm 6'4 and have driven a vixen and taimar with no problems and my dads 6'6 and hes driven both with no trouble.
David gerald does offer new chassis theres a couple of weeks turn round as they are built to order, i had one for my vixen cost just over £1000 a couple of years ago.
When i picked up my chassis gearlds were putting a v8 in a M chassis and there were no major mods.
