Does anyone know where I can get a new bonnet prop? I know Steve Heath used to do an alternative design a few years ago but he's disappeared off the face of the earth. I can't even find a standard one anywhere.

Cheers. I'd looked on the Leven website and scrolled through all the bits listed for a Griff but it doesn't show up?

Anyway, I'll give them a bell in the morning and see if they have any. I know it's expensive but seems to be the only option!

I've just made a replacement one that I'm about to fit, with a solid aluminium rod with a quick release ball joint at the end that attaches to the bonnet (just like the catches to remove the bonnet) and a neater end that uses the existing mount on the body. Total cost less than £20 , much stronger and finished with silicon tube so you can touch it when hot.

Parts used
1m 8mm aluminium rod
1x m8 quick release ball joint
M8 to m6 converter sleeve
8mm Id silicon tube
M6 cap head bolt

Thread the ends of the rod, screw the joint and sleeve on after adding tube as required. Replaces the existing crap design and doesn't scratch the inner wing.

Here's a few quick ones

[pic][\pic]

bend is deliberate to follow the bonnet and inner wing line. you can add as little tube or as much as you want. Tube at the lower mount end also acts as padding against inner wing.

Quick release fixing, dome nut bolts it to the existing roller crossmemeber
[pic][\pic]

end that inserts into existing mount on inner wing

inner wing mount, the bolt just fits through on the corner and is adjusted to fit exactly the depth of the mount. Threads all locked with loctite.

All using existing mounts and catches.

Brilliant idea thanks, I’ll have to pinch your idea as it will revolutionise my life.

I personally use the standard TVR effort but with a 5mm rose joint, at the top middle swivel joint, that screws straight into the hollow rod but needs a spacer or a few washers. Problem is when I work on the Griff I store the bonnet on the roof of the Griff and have to first unbolt the rose joint each time so the roof doesn’t balance on the bonnet stay.

Thanks again, Steve

TBH.... I have the Leven bonnet stay...BUT it makes the bonnet twist...... a bonnet stay propping from the middle would make be much happier

Ordered from Leven. Arrived. Fitted. Yes I know they're expensive but it's a nice design and it works well. It doesn't bend my bonnet as per other poster either.

It's different from the standard one in that the prop part is hinged from one end of the bar that runs between the bonnet rollers and it clips to this bar when not in use. It therefore doesn't run over the top of the engine when not in use. The problem I was having was that the prop was fouling on the coolant swirl pot and the AFM when the bonnet was down. This is now solved so I'm happy.

Just knocked up a couple of these as I was sick of burned fingers. :-)
Have a spare if anyone needs one, I'll bring to the Growl.

I will take a couple as well. My Leven one is a bit battered now and the clip has failed.
