Can anybody tell me the correct way of (re) attaching the top of the telescopic boot strut to the bracket on the underside of the boot - a few weeks ago mine broke off (after a bit of hurried roof extraction action during a rainstorm) - as I recall, there is a bolt on a swivel at the top of the strut which screws into a nut which was fixed on the *inside* of the vertical bracket on the underneath of the boot lid - this nut had come away from the bracket. My dealer had a quick fix when I got the Griff serviced by simply pushing the bolt on the strut through the hole in the bracket and adding a bolt on the *outside* of the bracket, but this then fouls the other part of the boot hinge lever, and means the boot doesn't shut properly. For the life of me I can't work out how the original bolt was fixed on the inside of the bracket - glue, solder, rivet or chewing gum......any clues?

Cheers,

Ed.

The strut should be on the inside of the hinge, with the nut facing out. It can foul the rubber strip on the boot edge when closing though - I replaced the original nut with a slimmer one.

Thanks for the replies and photos - I've just been to Henley to drop off the Tuscan and had a look at the boot of a Griffith they had in stock (and only got to take a looks at the photos after getting back). It looks like the bolt is mounted on a spacer which fits into a larger hole in the boot bracket - on mine the flange on the spacer which fixes it in the backet hole has sheared off......Henley are going to see about a replacement...as soon as the factory come back from holiday.

regards,

Ed.
