Hi,
http://www.joospeed.net has a good section on 'what to look for when buying'
It is down at the moment (maybe gone?)

Good points, but I'd advise inspection by a TVR specialist rather than AA/RAC. Costs less and tends to pick up more genuine problems and fewer spurious ones. The AA chap who inspected my S2 before I bought it spotted the broken speaker (balance control!) and said the front end was non-standard 'cos the bonnet didn't fit (they never do) but missed the seized cooling fan and worn CV joint. But you certainly should get an independant expert to look over it, preferably the person who will be servicing the car for you.
Cheers,

As my mate here said join the TVRCC and buy Steve heaths book on the griffith and chimera, i did and learnt a lot more than i knew to start with. It prepares you for the ones you view. 1 Tip many people describe their cars for sale as imaculate. I think they need galsses so give them a real grilling on the phone before hand. Also dont be afraid of private sales. I bought my 500 private and its fine. Have an RAC/AA inspection though about 350 quid but worth it for the peace of mind.
Peter, I had an RAC engineer to inspect my 4.3BV Griffith before buying, and in the 12 months since purchase the only "problems" have been things that he identified, i.e. limited life in the exhaust manifolds and tyres, and some wear in some suspension bits. They were expensive at about £270, but in retrospect I am still very happy with the service they gave.
