Does anyone know of a Griffith parts list?
or has anyone put one together?

I have searched but not found anything definitive except for the odd part number here or there in the forum.

I ask because I know there is one for the Chimp which is included with the RV8 Resource guide and while a large number of parts are likely the same I think there are enough differences to warrant supplementing that or creating one specifically for the Griff.

It could be a nice wiki resource on PH and would certainly make looking for parts a bit easier in general smile

Hi Paul, I have a comprehensive actual TVR Parts Book for the Griffith, I obtained it a few years ago from a fellow TVRCC member. They are very rare and hard to find unfortunately. There is the RV8 Resource (which you state) this is very useful also. I have a comprehensive list I produced of the fixings required for my 4.3 suspension rebuild, it includes some changes to existing lists because I found a couple of fixings needed to be a little longer or in one instance a little shorter, I can email that to you. I have been toying with the idea of producing a definitive list based upon my own work and rebuilds plus various sources of parts - for example, I have just sourced some new original type door switches from a Lotus parts outlet (they were used on Lotus Elise) at a third of the price from TVR outlets. If I can be of any help let me know, even if I scan in relevant pages from the TVR Parts Book! All the best, Pete

I am not sure if it the same as the other Pete has but I have the parts list for the Griffith and Chimaera in .PDF format, which I can PM you. As Pete says, it's a good place to start.

As I work through my Griff rebuild I am making notes as I also am as I service my other 500.

The RVR8 guide and the stuff with it is very useful. I had delusions of writing a 'workshop manual' for the Griff but sometimes there is too mcuh to do. I did have quite a lot of contact with Derek Smith of the RVR8 guide earlier this year and we were going to get together however all good plans..... having said that I am sure he would help. Pete

Paul, I've been thinking about this (and I do have time to think when I am away from home) and it would be really good, apart from producing an 'alternative parts list' to also gather all the manuals and documentation for the Griffith in one place and make it available to all. I've got engine manuals, T5 gearbox manuals, GKN Salisbury manuals etc. There may be some copyright issues, who knows but let's get this stuff together in one place.

PeteGriff is also an absolute mine of knowledge and experience at getting bits made up. I must admit I've let my TVR Car Club membership lapse because I wasn't getting much out of it but this is the sort of thing that I would like to see offered on a 'no profit' basis from some sort of organisation. Pete & Pete. It is starting to sound like a plan smile
I do have some manuals etc. which I have gathered through scouring the internet and various places although I suspect that we all have mostly the same set.

I've forwarded the list to those who requested it. Let's not stop there, somebody with better IT knowledge than me set up a forum/site that we can start to contribute to. Pete

Include me too guys.

I agree with you Pete, this is something the TVRCC should do, look at clubs like MG or Triumph, they are hugely supported with knowledge or sources of parts. Even getting rare parts made.
The TVRCC manage to negotiate discounts - whoopee - but we know a lot of the parts are readily available, and often cheaper if you know the donor.
I've also cancelled my club membership this year after more than 10 years because, amongst other things, I can't see any value in it.

Great idea. I'm an interested onlooker as a full rebuild is on the cards in the next couple of years.

Paul, like all good things I start off with the best intentions and then find I run out of time. Anyway let's see where this one goes but it sounds like there are some fairly like-minded people around.

I could see a starting position of getting the Griffith parts list on a database with the TVR numbers and some decent photos and then letting contributors add alternatives, comments, manuals and ideas against each of the parts.

I could also see a document library, where people could deposit manuals etc. As an example I can't find a GKN Diff Manual, however someone on a previous thread pinged me a Maserati Diff Manual, they use the same diff. There may be copywrite issues but let's worry about hurdles when we get to them not before. Pete

Is there an interested party who has the time and skills to setup a web based location whereby we could add data? Would expect it to be password protected in some way? Regards, Pete

Yep it would seem sensible that the TVRCC would be best people to pull this together as they should have some resources to manage it all. It all seems like a great idea and I have long term interest as I too have plans to do a body off chassis restoration (when the kids, building work, etc allow)

Over the last 3,4 years I have about 85mb bits of info on everything mechanical, service, forum comment on how to fix it etc etc. etc. On a Griff and also applicable for Chims? Just fitted new stealth cam and ECU eprom. Wow, what a mega difference. Can contribute to this team project anytime. TVRCC were handling a similar project some 2 years ago. I wonder how far they got with it. Like to hear from them.

I am in Japan at the moment.
Is there anyone in the UK perhaps that can contact TVRCC and see what they have to say about any project in this area. If nothing is ongoing then perhaps we can start with github?
I haven't used it much but a basic account which allows public repositories is free of charge and I think we would be able to create a structured store of information there at the very least, perhaps by category of part or maintenance instruction such as "front suspension", rear suspension", "engine", etc...

Great idea but I'm not in TVRCC - anybody...?

I was thinking along the same lines on structure and then let it blossom. Looks like there are a fair few like minded people out there. Pete

For now I created a github account and a folder structure
Anyone interested should be able to find it here: https://github.com/seaside65/TVR-Griffith

top level folders are:
Maintenance Procedures
Manuals
Parts

Each is broken down by category and I added some manuals into the "Manuals" section under the likes of "Gearbox/T-5" and a T-5 rebuild procedure in the same sub-folder under "Maintenance Procedures".

Still learning how this works so let me know if something doesn't seem right.

This sounds like an excellent idea, to have a list of resources like that available will be priceless. I wish I could contribute but suspect all I have has been mentioned previously, Original Griff parts list, Chim alternative parts list (does list a few parts for real cars though), T5 manual, injection manuals, engine rebuild manual etc.
I doubt the club would do anything on the parts supply front, are they going to be able to supply anything not already out there with the various suppliers and specialists?
