430 precat BHP
Discussion
This is mine (first 430BV Griff) from 2013:
Has been just under 280bhp but the torque is pretty healthy and plenty of it from low revs. Not sure about 340 as many were reading high - around 315 the year before and about the same this year. Fuelling still needs work so maybe get a bit more when the fuelling improves. Was about 255 bhp and the same torque figure when I bought it so its improved a lot but can't really say where the improvements came from.

Healthy 430 should be near the 250 bhp mark, add 10 or so for the BV. From what I've seen on rolling roads, 4.3s seem to score more consistently than 4 or 5 litres.
I would say this is about right. Mine is a standard re build but with an Emerald ecu and gave 265bhp.I`m sure you could get more out of them, by matching the exhaust manifolds to the heads properly. Opening up the inlet, bigger valves, mapped for 99ron etc, mappable ignition would be needed. Pretty sure 900T with all this is nudging 300bhp, depends how far you are prepaired to go.
Mine gained a similar amount of horses when going to mapped ignition by way of the 123tune USB programmable 'distributor' - from 274 PS-DIN at 5,500 rpm to 300 PS-DIN at 6,000.
That's on the standard sized valves BTW - still debating with myself whether it's worth lifting the heads for upgrading them to intermediate or big valves for a potential 20 hp or so and a bit more midrange oomph. Now I think it might be, tomorrow I'll be certain it won't - et cetera, et cetera, ad nauseam.
Same goes for converting to the MBE - I've been battling engine management gremlins for the past half year or so, but £2.5K before VAT is a lot of money and nursing a car to the Midlands and back from here in case of trouble is not something I'd relish either...

As of this years griff growl, my 430 BV recently converted was 289 bhp ish with 315 torques, before it was 252 bhp
That's running the 14cux
That's the catted model not pre cat
So just short of 4k seems a good investment for BV conversion
Regards
Pete

works for basic rule of thumb .... approx. £1k per 10 bhp That's running the 14cux
That's the catted model not pre cat

Evening All,
I've just bought GrnGriffs 430BV and am looking to fill in some gaps in the history since Pete owned it. - up to about 2014?
It now has an emerald ecu system but no paperwork to show when it was fitted and who mapped it.
Anyone on here?
It looks like a very tidy installation.
The registration number is K629XRN.

I think it was probably Lloyds Specialist Development in Warminster- I think they used to have a video of this Griff having the work done on their web or FB site.
Hi,Just had a look and yes, it's my car. many thanks for spotting this. Looks like it's a Canems system, rather than Emerald.
