Whats the track like at Hethel. There are a few of us going to the Bookatrack session on the 17th August and I was wondering what it is like ??

Going so far 1 Cerberra, 1 Griffith and a S2. Is it tight and technical (Elise heaven) or os there the opportunity to exploit the grunt of the TVR's ??

Cheers

It's a bit of both actually.. one side is technical with some nice corner complexs. The other side is very fast with a "nearly" flat out chicane and a long straight.

Seems to suit all cars really well

Strongly recommend getting some instruction as the technical bit is very tricky indeed in a TVR. I've sprinted there many times and did a track day a month ago and boy did I learn a lot.

The main problem for Tivs is keeping them balanced and learning when and when not to apply the throttle. The back end is where the grunt is fun. Get it right and there's 140 ish on the clock before braking for the chicane and hairpin!

Cheers both !

My intention was to get some tuition without a shadow of a doubt. Having only been round Zolder and Donington (with bookatrack but in a Cerberra which wasn't mine) I need tuition on how to get more from the S.

Being a Norfolk boy it was an opportunity to go and revisit the Lotus site which I hadn't been to for years and I guessed that it would involve both elements as its used for testing.

Just need to get the suspension set up and I'm away !

Cheers

I was always going !

I debated whether to do the track day or not but I'm definitely going to.

Mark is going in his Griff 500 aswell as Gary so hopefully there'll be a few.

Tim isn't taking his, Paul and Mags can't make it. Gary is definitely doing it. Dick was still debating it on Friday but sounded like he was going to take the Cerberra out before Brands on the following Tuesday. Either way he is coming along for a look at the least.

Are you going to Brands ??

Great chance to get some tuition aswell and have a crack round my local track.

I’m thinking of coming to hethel, I might do the track day as it sounds fun, won’t be staying I’ll drive up in the morning then come back the same day, a friend said he’d like to come along, when are you planning on going Friday or Saturday? Will try and make brands but can't say yet.

Didn't think you'd do the track day ..

I don't know for certain when I'm going to go up. I may go on the Friday and stay with my parents. Also my friend Sarah wants to come and she lives in Norwich so it would make it easier than having to drive past hethel into Norwich and then back (she doesn't drive & wants to come out on track - with me !)

You're more than welcome to come up with me on Friday and stay at my folks if you want.

Tim, Rachel, Gary and Lorraine are going to stay up probably on the Saturday and then we're probably getting a boat out on the Sunday..I've got Monday off aswell so it would be a nice weekend. Tuesday off aswell to go to Brands.

Cheers

Mark

Arabian Blue S2 ! I'll be in the beginners group though as it will only be my 3rd official trackday.

Will be there with 2 Cerberras and a Griffith 500 at least and possibly a couple of others yet.

See ya for a pie in the pits !

Being cheeky here Andrew but fancy taking me for a blast in the Caterham. Always hankered after one as a track day car and would love see it perform from the right side of the dashboad.

Please

No problem at all, so long as you take me out in the TVR (I've owned them myself, from 4.3 Chimaera thru Griff 500 to 4.5 Cerbie, and like getting a regular fix!)

Its only a S2 but should be well set up ready for Hethel as I didn't the last time I had it on track and at times regretted it....needed to do the geometry and didn't....but will have this time. My driving will not be quite as good as the set up though

More than happy to take you for a blast though Andrew.

See you then.

It was in Tower View on Monday with loads of purple paint so it should be purple by then.

Down Boy Down!

Yes. It will be purple with the rear bootlid spoiler. It may have the new stripped racing car interior and instrumentation as well but it all depends on time and so on.

It should be on the Tower View stand at Duxford as well.

Is that a yes....

I've seen the new roll bar and wonder whether the 'stripped down lightweight go faster interior' will feature a passenger seat

Yes you can come but bring your own sick bag please. My driving scares the willies out of me so you can't borrow mine...

There is a passenger seat. And full harness. The car will still be road legal
