Bizarre electrics
Discussion
Here's a weird one for you:
Griffith/Chimeara.
When selecting dipped lights (one above side lights, but not full beam) the wipers come on.
My wife laughed for a solid ten minutes yesterday. Usual tripe about noisy, smelly unreliable car...
Also: any idea what the lone diode in the wiring loom on top of the battery box does?
What's the weirdest electrical snag you've seen/heard of?

Last night at TVR Berks get together - stopped car, killed engine, left light on (whoops), removed battery kill switch (footwell), got out, closed door. Didnt lock (no need - but more couldnt as battery switched out)
Hour later, both doors locked somehow. Had to take shoes off, climb in, insert battery key. Then spotted light button depressed.
Possibly a security setup. Possibly not.

Nope. Probably an earth problem. Look at the front of the car where the radiator is and there are two bolts that connect the body to the chassis under the rad. May need to move the grill out of the way. One of them has the fan/headlamp/wipers earth (passenger side usually) and this can come loose or the connections need cleaning. If it is dodgy the earth goes through the indicators etc and can cause all sort of interesting problems. This is also the cause of many a dim headlamp and a slow cooling fan as well. Oh it is a swine to get to...

Oh i deffiantly second that one.
Had a lose earth here that caused all sorts of phantom light flashings.
Found the only way to get to the nut without taking the rad off was to cut a slot in the GRP just below tyhe nut and get an open ended spanner in there to do it up.
A socket wont go on due to the Rad being in the way Typical TVR anticts oh how i love TVR's
