fan shrouds fitted?
Discussion
Certainly did, though I didn't know that's what they were called. A friend's 96 Griff has 'naked' fans that simply sit direct on the rad; mine (97) has square black boxes as part of the fan mounting. My amateur view is that whilst they should theoretically improve cooling efficiency when the fans are running, the rad will work less well at other times as the shroud will block the free passage of air.
Basically caused when the changed the fans and the mountings. Some are designed to go flush on the rad. Other are not. These need a shround to help drag the air through the rad.
Don't have this on the 520. Been one of those things to do but haven't got round to it and the fans work fine anyway.

Not directly to do with this, but a warning about the direct-mounted fans close to the rad (as on my 94 4L Griff). On mine, the bushing on the plastic fans (posh word for a drilled hole - no metal sleeving as such) had worn so that the blades could "wobble" on the drive shaft. One proceded to foul the rad and hey-presto, a nice arc-shaped hole. Typical TVR - big problem resulting from a five-bob problem. Of course, it happened whilst abroad and the cost of the new rad was doubled by the shipping costs!

Obviously there's rather more to it than that! I'm interested from the point of view of air recirculation, which has a relatively big impact on the cooling capacity of the system.
