Toying with the idea of upgrading from an S to a Griff. Seen quite a range of prices, was wondering what's sensible for an early example?

About 2 months actually!, it's great, but......the lure of the V8 is biting hard!

My Dad had an S3 for a couple of years and loved it, and has recently bought an early 4.0 Griff. The S3 was superb and I loved that damn car....but the Griff has an aura all of its own, it looks great and yes that V8 - the noise and power - it felt like it had a lot more when we hit 1?? the other day!!! No real problems with it - had the electrics fettled with but the engine has done 50k miles and is sweet. The interior - leather is in great condition and the seats are very firm still - we saw several Griffs (including 500's) before we saw this one and it had the best interior of the lot and a FTSH - it was a bargain price so it had to be done!!! My Dad's POV was why pay the extra 2 - 3 k for that little extra power - this car is not slow.

I'm in exactly the same dilemna myself Pete. I've always wanted a Griff and also want more grunt. The problem is timing for me though !!

Good luck in whichever you decide. Mine'll be a 4.3BV if I decide that's what I'm after

Cheers

You could have answered you own question by scanning the classifieds here on PH - www.pistonheads.com/ads/adverts.asp?s=3

I suggested that they start at £13,000, normally if they are this cheap its for a reason, stay above £15,000 if you can, there are plenty around for this kind of money. Go for proper (TVR specialist)service history.
