Bad News. The new love of my life was stolen last night from the Mole Valley Garage nr Chessington in Surrey - an imperial blue Griff, reg. T620 KLH - after only 1500 glorious miles since purchase.

Would be grateful if anybody in the area could keep an eye out and phone the police/let me know if they see it.

Thanks.

Smithy, have you put this message out on the TVRCC e-mail group? Also might be worth duplicating it on the Cerbera group. If not let us know your e-mail address and I will copy it on for you. Rich...

p.s. comiserations and all that what can anyone say?
p.p.s. Did anyone hear anymore from that chap who had his "last100" Griffith torched?

I know Ted doesn't like cross-posting, but I'd stick a copy of your post in General Gassing for maximum exposure.

I've copied this on the TVRCC e-mail group and the Cerbera group (well they may look at Griffs as well even if only enviously as we drive with our roofs off) What about the dealers, is there a quick way of informing them that there is a nicked Griff doing the rounds? Rich...

Very unfortunate.
I'm absolutely paranoid about my car. Not meaning to pour salt on the wounds but did you have loads of security on it? If so wonder how the thieving scroats got away with it.

Got to be a pro job, and that suggests "nicked to order". Have you got a Tracker, because it may be in a container somewhere? I say that because there are too few TVR's to hide one in the U.K. - we all know each other's cars, and so do the dealers. and taking a newish Griff from a garage is not a joy rider's blag.

So I presume Mole Valley will pay for all repairs if any are necessary, there good arent they for looking after your car.

Yerrrrrs. Comiserations, chap. A terrible thing to happen. I'd be utterly gutted.

In the circumstances, I'd hold Mule Volley entirely responsible.

And I'd want to be driving round in their demonstrator until further notice.

Terrible news!

What time of day was it taken??? During office hours, broad daylight?

Or when they are closed and all are locked behind the security gate?

I'd better phone them, mine is there too...I hope.

richb,

Before I bought mine I was asking all sorts of security questions and, if I remember rightly, on the odd occasions that TVRs are stolen all the dealers are informed.

Cheers.

Suggest you let Mervyn Larner know (TVRCC Model Registrar). Also give Tony Connor (Sprint Editor) a call. He may be able to get something in Sprint.

Hope you get it back soon...

Bad news, very sorry to hear about it. I know how it feels having had an MGB stolen many years ago (it was never recovered).

I'd question how they managed to get past the security at Mole Valley. Do they have cameras and/or alarms and were they effective?

Don't assume that Mole will be liable for the loss.....
I had an Impreza written off whilst in a bodyshop in Uckfield during the floods in 2000, it turned into a U-boat.
The insurers (mine & theirs) point of view was that as they had taken 'all reasonable precautions' by locking it inside their compound, they were not liable for the loss.
