touring france in a griff 500
Discussion
Have just bought a new griff 500 and have booked a holiday touring france then getting a ferry over to Corsica. Am I mad? If any of you guys have done any long distanace touring and have any useful advice on what spares to take or things to get done I would be very grateful. i.e. should I carry some jump leads, a fan belt and get a manual fan override? Also any ideas on how good the petrol is in france?

No problems - I do it quite a lot. We're off to Italy via France and the Swiss/Austrian Alps next Thursday.
Get AA 5 star cover (I've never needed it, but it's compulsory IMO to take out decent cover so your car gets home in one piece). French petrol is fine, most places stock Super Unleaded, you won't get Optimax over there though.
As for spares, I'd take the usual toolkit plus a spare drive (fan) belt, cable ties, fuses and duck tape. Take your spare keys/remote too. Nothing worse than being stuck somewhere 'cos you either lost the key or the battery went in the remote.

Got back Mon from France/Germany/Belgium/Austris/Switzland/Italy and then France again, fantastic trip you'll have loads a fun, you can get optimax in Italy, it's called V-Power, take a good tool kit, spare Belt for engine and large Mobil 1 as it's hard to get in any of the mentioned countrys, oh, and if you can stay in the cap of Anitbes on the way back through France it's gorgeous. Back to work, bugger!
