Now I haven't read the article yet but have you seen the underbonnet picture of what looks to me like a pre cat 400 Griffith at the bottom left corner of page 15 of this months Sprint?

This worries me, so much chrome, polish , red and blue paint can't bode well for the owners sanity.

Anyone who polishes their alternator and wiper motor can't be all there.
This must surely be the ultimate man with too much time on his hands - Get a life!

Go drive the bloody thing!!!!

Kind of made me feel like a slob. It was slightly OTT but impressive nonetheless.

I agree with bertie - concourse obsessiveness is so anally retentive. Keep your engine clean, by all means, but polishing the wiper motor?! Cars are for driving, and if you go past someone at 130mph (not that I ever do, obviously), they are not going to think oooh, lovely clean suspension dampers, are they?!It's the noise and power of the engine that counts, not it's appearance.

oh come on you guys, this bloke (or lady) has paid Xk pounds for this car, they have the right to do with it as they please, including polishing it like crazy. Now I agree cars are for thrashing, but I wouldn't dream of telling anyone to get a life for polishing their car, hey at laest it's a tvr and not a beemer or porsche he / she's rubbing on. get a life you guys!!

As I said, far, far too much spare time on their hands.

And shows some kind of obsesive personality defect IMO.

Of course, the sorting of CD's is a topic in itself! Do you subdivide into category first, perhaps also by era, etc.....zzzzzzzz

Yes, I drive Volvo whilst my wife drives a Griff!

I parked my Griff next to his at the Back Home Concours. Decided it wasn't worth opening my bonnet next to that. Not the sort of look I'd want but the guy who did it had made a superb job of it. Made my 5 month old car look positively shabby!

Top Tip : I've just scanned the said photo, enlarged it and stuck it under my bonnet!!! I also now have a clean engine bay.... thanks whoever you were..

Have to admit to being obsessive before the family came along... now I'm just happy to snatch an hour to drive the damn thing.. horses for courses though, this guy probably doesn't spend +8hrs per day in front of a computer!!!! Who is the one with the life eh???????

My wiper motor is polished, whats wrong with that? It was getting corroded, what am I supposed to do? It got manky, I took it off and polished it up. Might as well do a good job while I'm at at. Polished a few other bits as well, and I'll polish more yet. No I don't have time on my hands, just like it to look like its cared for.

So why is it ok to put shiny bits in the cockpit but not the engine bay? Doesn't make sense to me.

Oh dear!! I know the guy who owns this car, he's a good mate of mine....

I hate to tell you this but he uses it every day for work.... His last car (a 400SE) was even more polished underneath than the Griff!!! If it sat in his garage and didn't get used I would slag him off but he does use it and he does have a life (and a wife and two kids aswell!!)

The old saying "don't judge a book by it's cover" applies here.....he's just car mad like the rest of us...and likes polishing his beastie
